Weifang Port faced double challenges of typhoon and epidemic prevention

From July to August 2021, Typhoon & flood prevention and epidemic prevention are the most important safety work of Weifang Sime Darby Port, Logistics division. From July 22 to 28, 2021, typhoon No. 6 "Fireworks" generated in the Northwest Pacific Ocean caused typhoon and heavy rainfall in Zhejiang province, Shanghai City, Jiangsu Province, Henan Province and other places in China. According to the weather forecast, on July 29, "Fireworks" would enter Weifang. Meanwhile, a number of provinces and cities in China, including Nanjing of Jiangsu province, Anhui and Guangdong provinces, had been infected by the Delta virus, making the epidemic prevention situation urgent and severe. Weifang Port held a special conference on Typhoon and Flood control on July 23, 2021 to enact relevant emergency plans.  Urgently obtain flood protection life jackets and raincoats, purchase flood protection sandbags and other materials, and distribute them to the operation area and office area for flood control preparation. And organized staff to carry out many drills on the safety transfer of personnel and goods, rainproof reinforcement of equipment, flood prevention disassembly of crane, motor. On 29th, typhoon "Fireworks" arrived at Weifang Port as forecast, bringing gusts of magnitude 8-9, and short term heavy rain. The port stopped operation, and all vessels berthed at anchorage to avoid wind. On the night of the 29th, "fireworks" influence significantly diminished, on the 30th, Weifang Port passed the dangerous situation smoothly, the early warning was lifted and normal operations resumed without any personal injury or property loss.

At the same time, a new round of epidemic prevention is also fully carried out simultaneously ....

The outbreak was triggered by "delta" strain, from July 20 to 2021 to August 9, 2021, there were cases of infection in 29 domestic cities in China. Weifang Port has revised its precautionary measures to strengthen prevention and control efforts at both marine and land entrances, focus on strengthening the protection and quarantine of employees who contact with foreign ships, strictly control the vehicles and personnel entering the port, check the travel record and body temperature, and organize all the port staff to conduct nucleic acid test every three days.

Up to now, Weifang Port continues to strengthen and improve the prevention measures in order to ensure normal operation of the port and protect the health and safety of our colleagues.
